About this piece

A face is divided down its centre, cool on one side and warm on the other, with neither half given the last word. Around it, blocks of saturated colour stand like the panes of a window, as if the past and the present were both looking in. The portrait asks what it costs, and what it gives, to carry two worlds with composure.
